Comparison of Modified Squeeze Technique and Oral Phenoxybenzamine in the Treatment of Premature Ejaculation

Abstract
Behavior therapy has been accepted as the most effective treatment for premature ejaculation. Although many kinds of phamacotherapy have been tried, their effectiveness is not clear. We compared the squeeze technique(N=14) and oral
phenoxybenzamine
20-30 mg per day(N=24) in the treatment of premature ejaculation. The response to treatment was assessed by an interview with the couple nad graded as satisfaction, improvement or no improvement who started with the squeeze technique completed
treatment. Their age range was 26 to 38 years, and the duration of treatment was 20 to 95 days. The overall improvement was 67% in ejaculation and 83% in wife's satisfaction. Eighteen of the patients who started with oral phenoxybenzamine
completed
treatment. Their age range was 26 50 years, and the duration of treatment was 20 to 90 days. The overall improvement was 67% in ejaculation and 61% in wife's satisfaction. With oral phenoxybenzamine, there was no complication except dry
ejaculation
in
50% of the patients. Cessation of the drug eliminated this problem. Our results confirm that the squeeze technique is effective and suggest that oral phenoxybenzamine can be recommended for temporary use in patients who refuse the squeeze
technique
or
who do not with to procreated.
